In order to celebrate and support their fantastic array of local artists, The Rock And Roll Circus has commissioned a new record, ‘A Collection Of Calamity: 18 Odd-core classics presented by inmates of Leeds' Psychedelic Rehearsal Studios, The Rock & Roll Circus’.

This musical compilation features recordings by bands who have rehearsed & recorded at The Rock And Roll Circus.

‘After three years at Canal Road Mills, this compilation is the culmination of so much hard work from a great team of people’, said founder, Craig Pennington. ‘When we opened the studio, we really wanted to create somewhere different; an alternative to the traditional white-sodden, cold, grim, industrial rehearsal space of years gone by. I think the quality, range and profile of the bands on this record shows that we’ve gone some way towards achieving that goal’.

The album 'A Collection of Calamity: Volume One', including stunning artwork created by local artist Jonny Hewison, will be available on CD for FREE from Jumbo Records, Crash Records, Blue Rinse & all the hippest Leeds hotspots from the end of February 2010. ‘A Collection Of Calamity’ was mastered by Ross Halden at Ghost Town. EXCLUSIVE DINOSAUR PILE UP SESSION!!

To tie in with the compilation, The Rock And Roll Circus have shot an exclusive, live video session with Leeds Pre-historic-grunge kings, ‘Dinosaur Pile Up’, filmed on location at the studios by James Hobson & Ross Halden, from Ghost Town.

Dinosaur Pile Up took time from a European Tour with American, 4AD Records legends The Pixies, (which The Rock And Roll Circus were lucky enough to catch up with in Amsterdam,) to film the session, which features live workings of ‘Traynor’ & ‘My Rock n Roll’.

In order to celebrate the release of ‘A Collection Of Calamity: Volume One’, The Rock And Roll Circus will be hosting a series of three shows at The Packhorse, LS2 (near Leeds Uni) on the 11th, 12th and 13th of February -

Thurs 11th Feb:
The Cupid Stunt, Lasse Braun, Cissy, The Rentboys, The Bacchae

Friday 12th Feb:
Volcanoes, The Lazy Darlings, Downdime, Gary Stewart, The Hydropaths

Saturday 13th Feb:
Saving Time, Buffalo Bones, Society, We Sell Seashells, Wonderswan

Each show starts at 7pm and is £4 entry, featuring DJ Sets from The Circus….3 nights full of live music; chaos, confusion and yes calamity is guaranteed!!!
